From August 2023 to April 2024, I conducted a research project on the life and influence of a seventeenth century Spanish nun, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. These six pages, out of twenty-three in total, highlights life during the seventeenth century, and the role women played during that time.

This writing sample comes from a research project I conducted on the eighteenth century Irish Republican who inspired future generations to fight for the Irish Cause.

In colonial Latin America, patriarchy was defined by one’s race, class, and gender. The Catholic Church governed peoples' lives and at the top of this patriarchy pyramid were men, especially white, elite men. This essay highlights the role women were enforced in Latin America under the pre-existing patriarchy.
